Halloween Snacks: Scary Cheesy Fingers

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

Halloween is almost here, so instead of heading out to buy the same old chocolate treats, why not get creative and wow those littleĀ  ‘Trick or Treat’ monsters with something imaginative and delicious!

You’ll really be amazed with how many Halloween snacks you can create, as well as the every day foods you can make them with. Our first Halloween treat, is the Scary Finger. A Halloween classic, but made delicious with Mozzarella String Cheese.

This great recipe requires some simple knife skills (carefully cutting cheese strings in half, with groves for the nails) and some simple artistic flair (simple line marks to give those cheese strings, some finger detail).

Cream cheese is used to stick the nails together and these are made from green pepper, but you could use a more ‘child friendly’ treat for this, such as jelly sweets or chocolate, carved to a nail shape. Chocolate buttons would be perfect for nails, as they’ll be much easier to shape and will already have the perfect thickness for a nail. Just do your best, not to handle them with bear fingers, or they’ll melt.

Cheese, cream cheese and pepper, have never looked so scary!
